Legacy

GDC Communities owes its beginnings to our Canadian affiliate, Genstar Development Company, a developer founded in Canada in the '50s that remains active today. Since its inception, Genstar has pioneered master-planned communities in both Canada and the US, including development of some of North America's first master-planned lake and golf communities.

In 2000, GDC was formed to pursue new opportunities in the US, allowing Genstar to focus exclusively on the Canadian market. Today, both companies operate under the management of the San Diego corporate office.

Over the years, management has fine-tuned Genstar's proven, disciplined approach to the US market. We have formed partnerships with builders and developers on select assets to purchase, entitle, develop and build out residential communities designed to live up to the Genstar legacy of innovation and success.
