Legacy
Genstar Development Company (GDC) owes its auspicious beginnings to the success of our parent company, Genstar: a developer founded in Canada in the '50s. After pioneering master-planned communities in both Canada and the US—including some of the North America's first master-planned lake and golf communities—Genstar's management team formed GDC to pursue opportunities in the US, allowing Genstar to focus exclusively on the Canadian market. Over the years GDC has fine-tuned Genstar's proven, disciplined approach for the US market. We have formed partnerships with builders and developers on select assets to purchase, entitle, develop and build out residential communities designed to live up to the Genstar legacy of innovation and success.

All told, Genstar has completed over 60 communities in Canada and the US, while GDC has projects completed or underway in seven states, coast to coast. Moving forward, GDC will continue to build relationships with stakeholders while expanding its operations to include the direct purchase of residential land for future development.
